Flapjack Friday Faves [08.09]

Happy Flapjack Friday, or in my case today, Happy French Toast Friday [I had some leftover bread I decided to use].

Thanks to Hope Avenue for this lovely entry, and yes, I almost cried:

How to talk to your daughter about her body

An article that hits very close to home for me, as my family and some of my co-workers live this daily:

Rethinking the $3000 Mission Trip

The end of the article was a bit discouraging, but unfortunately, it’s what life in the [helper] world often involves.

It’s almost back to school time for us here in Lexington, KY.  This week I did my duty and actually volunteered for 2 hours at my daughter’s school.  {yay me!}

I may or may not have been kicked out of a PTA meeting. OK, not really.

Yes, I do have my library card number memorized, along with my childhood home phone number, the combination to a lock we kept on our back shed when I was a kid and my husband’s social security number.  I also remember that K is the symbol for Potassium.  Yet I have little recollection of what happened last week.  This could be a direct correlation to living smack dab in middle aged-ness, which brings me to……..

I celebrated my 45th birthday on Wednesday.  Here’s a list of IMBD’s Most Popular People Born in:

The Civil Wars released their new album this week.  I think they’re pretty good but am saddened by their turmoil:

Hope your summer wrap up is going well.  With less than a week until daughter Allie begins her sophomore year in high school and [wiping tears] two weeks until our son Jamie begins his season at the University of Louisville, I’m trying my best to hang in there without resorting to a full fledged breakdown.  God bless all the other 45 year old mothers out there!

Happy Weekend!
