Flapjack Friday Faves [05.24]

Happy Flapjack Friday!

I’ve decided to dedicate today’s FFF to my sweet son who graduates high school today.  I’m not exactly sure why I’ve never been asked to give a graduation speech [go figure], but if I was, I think I’d simply read the following over and over, because it’s what most graduation speeches sound like.  Not really, I’d write my own, but it seems like a good idea.ImageI will interject, I don’t recommend quitting your job in every situation.  I am someone’s mother, after all. But, for the most part, I agree with the rest.

This is taken from  10 Life Lessons from Calvin & Hobbes

calvin & hobbesI suppose it’s a snarky, but true feeling of kids who are bright enough to see beyond the test.

FFF quote for the classical music fans in the crowd:  Put all your soul into it, play the way you feel!  – Frederic Chopin

Warning, this is advanced music theory/scientific info that my son will understand.  Feel no shame if you don’t:

Interesting article on raising children, especially geared to those of us who have artistic and/or academically high achievers:

Presence, Not Praise:  How To Cultivate Healthy Relationship with Achievement

And last but not least, I’ll finish with a SHOUT OUT to my son, who managed to obtain a B in a college credit calculus class this semester.  Way to go, Jam-i-o!  You can now forget all the math you’ve ever learned, sans addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, friends, and congrats to all the grads!

  3. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appearance. I must say that you’ve done a very good job with this.

Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Chrome.

    Superb Blog!
